Friday 13th Bad Luck & 10 mile TT

March was a slightly better month, but not by much, as I started back on my daily cycle commute.

Another ride with Tone and also Richard and James went well. We covered about 36 miles with an average speed of 15.9 mph, which would have been a bit better if some of us didn’t suffer from low energy levels over the last few miles.

Unfortunately on Friday 13th March I had an accident on my bike on the way into work resulting in a fractured elbow and painful wrist. This couldn’t have come at a worse time causing disruption to my London to Paris training.

I did manage a session on the turbo a few weeks after the accident although I could only cycle in one gear as I was unable to put any pressure on my right arm.

I thought as something different I would try a 10 mile time trial so I set up my Tacx with a flat, 10 mile route and spun away completing it in just under 26 minutes with an average speed of 22.5 mph.

Having had my follow-up consulatation at the hospital and being told the fracture has heald I was advised to give it two more weeks before riding properly – can’t wait now, one more week – woohoo!!
